Tippecanoe County Black Heritage Committee's Inaugural Oral History Harvest/Community Cultural Celebration Weekend Event!

*********?*

The community is invited to share their stories and pictures about African American culture in Indiana.
When: Saturday September 27th 12-3pm
Where: Second Baptist Church, Lafayette, Indiana 2925 South 18th Street
Why: Tippecanoe County has a rich Black history dating all the way back to the 1840's.
We need your stories.
* What was it like growing up in Lafayette in 60s, 70s, and 80s?
* What's your family's story?
* Where did you go to school, high school, in Tippecanoe County?
Especially if you are 60 or older because those stories are going to be lost first if we don't record them.
We need to record and archive your voices/stories for future youth and research.
Only so many Black historical stories were ever recorded and published...
We need to record your faces & voices to add the new narratives that Black Tippecanoe County deserves.
Our stories and reflections will become part of the Black Heritage Oral History Collection, a division of Indiana Landmarks.
**************
How: We will record 30 minute audio and video conversations will be recorded on site, transcribed, and then later managed on the Indiana Memory website hosted by the Indiana State Library.
Please let everyone know because I'm aware that we have a clutch of folks that live outside Tippecanoe County.
We welcome them back Saturday September 27th from 12-3pm for the first T.C.B.H.C Oral History Harvest.
Bring your stories!! We'll provide light refreshments and food.
Sunday Second Baptist will feature foods from around the world to close out our cultural celebration weekend.
Please read flyer below and DM me direct with any questions.
Flyer is available to share from my personal FB page!!! Share Away!!
