Tipitina’s unique take on the blues, barrelhouse, boogie and gospel of New Orleans owes much to the music of Professor Longhair, Dr. John, James Booker, Fats Domino and Allen Toussaint, and still more to the powerful vocals of Debbie Jones and Justine Randall’s mastery of New Orleans piano.
With two acclaimed Big Bear CDs behind them, Tipitina regularly excite and charm audiences at the Birmingham Festival where they recorded a live album in 2011. Based in Leyland, Lancashire, where they kept busy during lockdown with highly popular streamed performances, Tipitina have an equally strong following in Birmingham, with a recent gig at Henry’s Botanical Blueshouse in the Botanical Gardens their latest performance here.
