Sofia Tsairidou
Sofia Tsairidou (Drama - Greece,1978) discovered her passion for music and the performing arts at a young age, leading her to pursue studies in Physical Theater in Thessaloniki.
In her professional journey as an actress, Sofia delved into singing with various music groups, showcasing her versatility in folk and traditional Greek styles, including rebetiko. In 2008, she had the honor to cross paths with the legendary Indian classical music singer and Dhrupad style teacher, Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar. This encounter marked a significant turn in her life, propelling her into the world of Indian classical music.
Immersing herself in the study of Dhrupad, Sofia traveled to India to receive guidance from her mentor, ultimately relocating to the Netherlands in 2011. In 2016, she successfully completed her Bachelor's degree in Indian classical singing at Codarts University for the Arts. Sofia actively participated in performances of classical Indian music, showcasing her skills with the tanpura alongside maestros like Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia (2018) and Amelia Cuni (2013).
Over the last six years, Sofia has dedicated herself to further development through artistic workshops, exploring the nuances of voice and body in her ongoing pursuit of artistic expression.
