Colchester Castle’s enchanting Grotto for nursery and preschool groups returns for 2025. Father Christmas has set aside dedicated times this December for young children to visit him in a calm and welcoming environment, designed especially to help even the youngest guests feel comfortable and excited to meet the festive season’s favourite.Alongside their visit with Father Christmas, children will enjoy storytelling, festive songs, and playful activities led by his cheerful helpers. These moments are crafted to spark imagination and create lasting memories for little ones.
This event is suitable for children aged five and under, and all nursery groups must be accompanied by their group leaders throughout the session.
Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes. Start times are flexible and can be arranged upon enquiry. Please note that sessions will only run on the following dates if booked in advance:

Thursday 11 December
Wednesday 17 December
Thursday 18 December
Tickets are £7 per child, minimum of 8 children per group. Maximum of 25 children per group. Booking in advance is required. Simply call the Grotto hotline on 01206 282939. Our lines are open from 10 AM – 4:30 PM.
