Pull up a chair, take off your coat, and let Tiny Glass Tavern pour you a tiny glass of something delightful, unexpected, and wonderful. Continuing our GRRLS TO THE FRONT series this year, Tiny Glass Tavern covers Mount Wittenberg Orca, the Dirty Projectors and Björk EP, as well as offering an eclectic selection of vocal music for women+high voices including works by Bach, Björk, Rosa Tu, Bulgarian and American Folk, early music and more.
TINY GLASS TAVERN is an eclectic, cross-genre ensemble based in Massachusetts. Led by vocalist Sophie Michaux, Tiny Glass Tavern features a rotating constellation of performers, presenting a broad selection of music that spans genres and languages. Tiny Glass Tavern is a joyful celebration of musical variety, texture, and experimentation.
Featuring Sophie Michaux, Erin Hogan, Kimaya Diggs, Lexi Ugelow, Maisie Dolan, Rosa Tu, Emma Rothman, Mia Bertelli, Sarah Gibson, Nathalie Michaux, Hannah Levy, Sam Arthen-Long, Isobel Arthen-Long, voices, banjo, guitar, drums and Adam Jacob Simon, Bass, guitar, voice, organ.
A typical Tiny Glass Tavern performance is intimate and interactive – that’s the tavern part. Enter their warm, welcoming space, and pour yourself a little drink or ten, sampling sips of early and Romantic repertoire, Yiddish folk songs, Italian madrigals, French chansons, new compositions, and more. You’ll hear folk songs from around the world, and pop music performed in delightfully unexpected arrangements.
A Tiny Glass Tavern show may feature a chamber orchestra, theorbo, banjo, harpsichord, mandolin, or even accordion. The heart of a Tiny Glass Tavern is the voice. With a vividly-colorful and expressive instrument, Michaux herself has performed across the country with the Haymarket Opera Company, Lorelei Ensemble, Roomful of Teeth, and more. Tiny Glass Tavern’s debut album Let Us Dance, Let Us Sing comes out on PARMA Recordings in April 2025.
GRRLS TO THE FRONT showcases empowering work by groundbreaking women composers, filmmakers, and culinary artists. This program has been made possible through generous support from the Vermont Women's Fund.
