It is that time of year again, when thoughts turn to blowing cobwebs away and getting some fresh air after spending a couple of days at home with the family, a mountain of chocolate and enough alcohol to host a wedding reception. The solution is to spend Saturday morning enjoying the fresh air at Brixham breakwater beach ///spared.signs.digs (TQ5 9AF)
High tide is 10:30, so the best visibility will be around 9:30.
Parking is right next to the beach, which leads to a gently sloping sandy bottom. Maximum depth is 10M, so the site is ideal for all divers. Lots of life to see, including edible, and velvet swimming crabs, lobsters (if your lucky) scallops, and others.
Navigating is easy, there are two options, follow the breakwater out and back again, or head out into the bay and follow your compass back.
With the breakwater bistro open we will then have a warming cup of something and possible a bite to eat as well.
If you want to pick up some scallops, remember you need a licence from https://www.devonandsevernifca.gov.uk/
As ever this is subject to the weather (winds) and we will post an update on the group before the event confirming if it’s on.
The event picture is taken from the breakwater bistro webcam.
