Hanes Art Gallery is excited to announce our upcoming exhibition, Timely Conversations, on view January 29th through March 21st. This exhibition brings together contemporary artworks that explore the interconnected themes of history and time, pairing works to spark dialogue around topics such as identity, race, labor, archival erasure, and the environment. Featuring artists including Robert Colescott, Glenn Ligon, Martine Gutierrez, Shahzia Sikander, Suchitra Mattai, and Jay Lynn Gomez, Timely Conversations invites viewers to reconsider the past through the lens of the present.
We hope you'll visit the gallery to see this exhibition and we also invite you to join us for the Opening Reception on Thursday, January 29th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The reception is free and open to the public, and all are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
