Step back into the 19th century and experience the expressive beauty of German lieder — the art songs that once filled salons and concert halls across Europe and America. This intimate afternoon of music features:
🎵 Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 17 in D minor (“The Tempest”)
🎵 Beethoven’s song cycle An die ferne Geliebte
🎵 Schubert’s Der Einsame, Der Lindenbaum, and An Sylvia
Performed by Joseph Yungen, internationally acclaimed pianist and Doctor of Musical Arts from Juilliard, and Corbin Phillips, a “standout baritone” recognized for his artistry with ensembles such as the Boston Early Music Festival and Opera Lafayette.
The concert will be performed on an authentic replica of a late 18th-century fortepiano, offering audiences a rare opportunity to hear this music as it was originally intended.
