Join Us for a Celebration of Ground-breaking Author Gertrude Stein's 150th Birthday!Of Sound Minds presents Time for Gertrude Stein, an ambitious musical and theatrical tribute to the cubist-inspired writer, curated by Peter Hatch. Stein, a pioneering force in modern literature, redefined literary expression with her innovative, fragmented prose. This multidisciplinary event features percussionist Brandon Bronson performing Peter Hatch's When do they is not the same as why do they and members of Swingshift, Michelle Footz, John Whitelaw, Tracie Whitelaw & Brandon Bronson, perform in John Cage's Living Room Music. Vocalist Cicela Månsson and pianist Don Conley perform songs by Virgil Thomson, while flutist Kathryn Cernauskas presents Eve Beglarian’s Preciosilla for flute and electronics.
With Christina Penhale and Gwenyth Dobie performing some of Stein’s theatrical dialogues, and a world premiere piece by Joi Freed-Garrod performed by Leslie Corry, Mary Pickering & Don Conley, this event promises to be a rich experience for lovers of adventurous art.
