𝐁𝐨𝐡𝐣𝐚𝐬𝐬: a high energy 𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙧𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙟𝙖𝙯𝙯 band that melds highly structured rhythmic devices with soaring melodic lines and beautiful harmonies. Bohjass: “...a sprawling, trippy, trancey, percussion fuelled, cosmic brew” (Dingo Magazine, Australian Jazz Journal). Bohjass have been at the forefront of the Melbourne improvised music scene for over 3 decades and have released 13 studio albums; the most recent being ‘it asks nothing’ (bohjass) 2023 and ‘into the low rents/compassion’ (Bohjass upas militia) 2024. Bohjass have been compared with bands as diverse as Soft Cell, Frank Zappa and God Speed You Black Emperor with echoes of Pharoah Sanders. Tim Pledger is the founder and composer/saxophonist of Bohjass and his playing has been compared with Albert Ayler and Eric Dolphy with one recent reviewer noting his dedication to a ‘singular modus operandi’ not unlike that of Sun Ra.
