DESCRIPTION: This two-day training is designed to train participants to facilitate restorative processes and to implement this restorative practice in response to incidents of harm and conflict. The restorative process brings together those who have committed harm in a face to face structured dialogue with those who have been violated along with members of the relevant community. The purpose of the restorative process is to: allow victims a voice; encourage accountability within a context of support; promote emotional healing; and repair relationships among all stakeholders in the community.
Participants will learn the core principles of restorative justice; the circle and conference structure and process; the steps for preparation; dynamics of facilitation; follow-up and celebration. The workshop will provide participants with practical experience through role-plays, demonstrations, videos and practical strategies. This training will prepare participants to implement restorative responses within school, residential and community-based settings for both everyday violations and for serious incidents of harm within the community.
This training will be facilitated in a virtual-circle Zoom meeting format. Participants will receive a Zoom meeting link and training materials a few days prior to the training.
