Foraging for wild food connects you to place in a most delicious and intimate journey. Enjoy an evening with Jennifer Hahn, a foraging grandmother, solo kayak expedition paddler, Pacific Crest hiker, and Fairhaven College teacher of a popular wild food course. Jennifer will share slides and stories of forty years of sustainable foraging adventures afoot and afloat. Learn about how to sustainably harvest a myriad of coastal edible wild foods including nettles, sea lettuce, kelp, chocolate clams, oyster mushrooms, fir tree tips, lady ferns, fireweed shoots (like asparagus!), black cap berries and a bushel of nutrient-dense common weeds such as invasive knotweed. You’ll also enjoy “meeting” Indigenous traditional foods teachers and learning tips from coastal food experts, plus timely climate change updates, news on nutrition and potential pollutants, and science-based information on what animals also depend on these foods for food and shelter. After diving into this evening with popcorn “SEA-soned” with local kelp, you are sure to gain a new appreciation of the nature that surrounds and nourishes you. **Jennifer Hahn**
