The Beer City Saxes:
This swinging ensemble draws its members from the Grand Rapids Jazz Orchestra. Venues they have performed at include Harmony Hall, The Bob, and at Waldron Public House in Grand Rapids. They have also performed at the Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts, West Michigan Jazz Society concerts, East Lansing Jazz Festival, and for the Thornapple Jazz Festival in Hastings. Members include saxophonists Gary McCourry on bari, Tom Lockwood on alto and tenor, Tom Stansell on tenor, Greg Marsden on tenor, Mike Lutley on alto. The rhythm section includes pianist Drew Placzek, drummer Eddie Eicher and bassist Dave Collee.
The Beer City Saxes specialize in Four Brothers and Supersax style arrangements, featuring compositions by such jazz legends as Benny Carter and Charlie Parker. The Four Brothers style is based on the Woody Herman saxophone section instrumentation of 3 tenor saxes and a baritone sax. Supersax instrumentation is 2 altos, 2 tenors, and a baritone sax. This style places emphasis on tight harmonies and often includes arrangements of classic solos, especially those of Charlie Parker. They also perform originals and a wide variety of timeless standards such as “Save Your Love for Me”, “Over the Rainbow”, and “It Could Happen to You”.

The St. Sinner Orchestra is a grand fusion of classical and rock music, featuring a dozen string players, a drummer, and Greg Scheer on vocals and guitar.
The St. Sinner Orchestra’s music is crafted with the orchestra’s voice taking center stage. These are not just pop songs with strings. These are compositions that weave together catchy melodies, driving harmonies, and extended string sections.
Since 2017, St. Sinner has been building a following for their unique sound and energetic live shows. This is music that grabs the heart, feeds the mind, and nourishes the soul. Like their Baroque Pop forebears, St. Sinner’s music explodes with color while the lyrics balance soul-searching and levity.
