What is Reiki?Reiki is the universal life force found in all things. Reiki is not a religion or even a specific spiritual path. The work of this energy is spiritual in nature but can be used by anyone on any spiritual path. It only requires a belief in connection to Spirit, love and healing through intent and energy. Reiki is a form of energy healing using both a hands on technique and symbols. .
The present-day foundation of Reiki is found in the basic teachings and principles of Dr. Usui. Energy is multidimensional in nature, not only working on the physical; also working on the psychological, emotional, physiological, and spiritual levels as well. But Shamballa Reiki is much much older than that.

Reiki Level 1: Initiate Degree - Level One
Level 1 is a practitioner's initiation into Reiki and is open to anyone. The focus during Level 1 is on opening the energy channels on a physical level, allowing the practitioner to connect to the universal life force energy, which flows from the cosmos through the crown of the head and down to the hands and feet. Many Reiki masters emphasize self-Reiki as the goal of the Level 1 designation, encouraging students to focus on practicing Reiki on themselves, thereby working through their own obstacles. The Level 1 course includes an overview of the history of Tibetan Shamballa Reiki, Key Concepts and Principles, Traditions, Hand Positions, Level 1 Attunement, Class discussion, and Hands on Learning.
What to expect during a Level 1 Attunement:
The Reiki Level 1 attunement was initially given in four separate attunements. There are some Reiki Masters who still teach using this method. However, many Reiki Masters provide Level 1 attunement in a single session. After the first attunement, many experience physical symptoms of energy in their palms—including tingling, coolness, or heat.
