Want to learn to read Tibetan? Start with the Alphabet!
From time to time, folks ask if there’s a way to learn to read the Tibetan language that’s in our prayer texts. Well, now there’s an opportunity to learn!
Starting on Saturday, February 1, KTC will offer classes on the Tibetan language. Classes will be held in Classroom 1 on the lower level of the KTC center on Rich Street.
The first series of classes will run for six classes on the following Saturdays from 10 am until 11:30 am:
February 1
February 15
February 22
March 1
March 8
March 15
At the end of six classes, students will be able to recognize all the letters and vowels of the Tibetan Alphabet with their sounds. Each session will be about 90 minutes long.
The first four weeks will focus on learning all 30 letters, covering eight letters in each session. The remaining two weeks will focus on vowels with examples.
This class will be taught by Sangay Tshomo, a new member of our sangha. Donations will benefit KTC.
If there is a lot of interest in this program, we intend to offer more courses.
