This tournament is in honor of Tiago Sousa, who tragically lost his life in an accident along with 5 of his teammates and coach on March 15th, 2022 on their way back from a College Golf tournament in the United States.Tiago holds a special place in our hearts here at Quinta do Lago. As a past member of the Paul McGinley Golf Academy and Junior Club, we had the pleasure to watch him grow as a cheerful, kind, and respectful young man.
This family event and the funds raised will start the 'Tiago Sousa Golf Project' - a project in collaboration with the Paul McGinley Golf Academy, QDL Resort, and the Portuguese Golf Federation to provide golf professionals to bring school children closer to the game of golf.
We hope you enjoy this golf experience, and thank you for keeping Tiago Sousa's memory alive.
We would like to emphasize that the Tiago Sousa Memorial Golf Tournament is a parent with a child event with no age restriction on the child.
You can “adopt” a child, but in this case, the child must be eligible to play in the Paul McGinley event (under 18).
