The one and only Thursday Night Social Ride® is back! Last week's event photo got me thinking about bike jousting. LET'S JOUST! You bring your bike and your riskiness, we'll supply the jousting polls and 400 screaming cyclists!
Before giving you the details, I’d like to make the announcement that Social Cycling Austin needs volunteers. Please join the group Social Cycling Austin: Volunteer Group. Our ability to put on fun and safe rides hinges on great volunteers. It’s a great place to meet new people interested in riding bikes together while helping to promote more butts on bikes in Austin.

DETAILS:
RIDE LEADERs: John Acker and Keith Byrd
MEET UP: Festival Beach, just east of the I-35 bridge over Lady Bird Lake on the hike and bike trail.
TIME: 7:30 PM
(Wheels down at 8:15ish)
END: Sunny’s Backyard
13526 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78702
Ride Distance: Around 10 miles
Pace: Social
Bring: Lights, Locks, ID, and Cash for drinks and tipping your server.
SPECIAL COVID NOTICE: Per CDC recommendations, vaccinated individuals can safely attend events like social rides. If you have not been vaccinated, it is highly recommended that you wear a face covering. And if you feel ill, PLEASE STAY HOME.
Social Cycling Austin rides AS traffic and NOT AGAINST it. We stop at red lights, yield the right of way and let cars pass as best we can. We don't block intersections. We are nice to both our fellow riders and the other traffic on the road. LISTEN TO the volunteers helping to lead the ride. They are some nice folks and have you best interest in mind. If you have any questions about the rules, see: [https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/docs/TN/htm/TN.551.htm](https://l.facebook.com/l.php...)
REMINDER: The goal has always been to create a safe environment for all riders, but we cannot control, nor do we desire to, every rider's behavior. We promote personal responsibility, and it is each rider's responsibility to take care of themselves, and if they choose to ride with us, then they accept those risks inherent in riding a bicycle with a large group of other people riding bicycles.
