Join us for a Thursday Lunch where Ylva Vendela Ullahammer Bordsenius will present her master’s thesis, “Discourses on degrowth in Norway: an analysis of political, environmental, and academic interpretations of degrowth”. Using a political ecology lens, the study explores how politicians, environmental actors, and academics frame and interpret degrowth, and how Norway’s unique economic and geopolitical context shapes these debates.The thesis reveals how the dominant belief in green growth and sustainable development makes open discussion of degrowth difficult. Even those who see it as necessary often remain silent, fearing a loss of social legitimacy.
