Wymondham Words Festival Poet and playwright James McDermott joins acclaimed novelist, non-fiction writer and poet Jean McNeil for readings from their new books, and a wide-ranging discussion of personal
and ecological grief and loss, taking in the experience of Covid 19 and what it means to bear witness in a climate changed world.

Jean McNeil is Professor of Creative Writing and the author of sixteen books, including seven novels and a collection of short fiction. She has been the recipient of numerous grants and awards and has lectured and held fellowships at universities in Italy, Spain, South Africa and Australia, as well as being writer in residence in Antarctica with the British Antarctic Survey, undertaking official scientific and environmental writing residencies in the Falkland Islands, Svalbard, and aboard ship-based expeditions to Greenland and across the Atlantic Ocean. Her latest book is a fusion of nature writing and memoir, Latitudes: Encounters With a Changing Planet, published in March 2025.
