About this Event
Thugs Need Love Too is organizing a Valentine’s Day Dance that’s more than a party. It’s a celebration of Black love, romance, joy, and care, created for us by us.
For many of us, this kind of love was never made available. This night is inspired by old-school prom energy and is intentionally designed as a low-barrier, community-centered celebration for people who may never have had access to spaces of romance, tenderness, or celebration. If you never had a prom, never felt chosen, or never had the chance to experience love in this way, this night is for you.
Come dance, connect, slow down, and experience a night of romance, softness, and community. This event also doubles as a fundraiser and donation drive in support of Cornerstone Housing for Women.
This event is grassroots, community-funded, and held together by love.
No corporate sponsors.
No grants.
Just community holding community.
We'd like to thank Support Sistem, Pearly Media, Krownd, Soiree Congo, M5 Painting & Drywall Services, The Ether and Collab Space for their help, care and support in bringing this to life.
While the night is about joy and love, it is also about action. Love looks like care, resources, and showing up for one another. This event will function as both a fundraiser and physical donation drive in support of Cornerstone Housing for Women, an Ottawa-based organization supporting women experiencing homelessness and fleeing violence.
Attendees are invited to bring new or gently used items from the Cornerstone wishlist (pictured above) that you would feel good about gifting to a loved one, or to contribute financially. Multiple ways to give are offered because we recognize that everyone’s capacity looks different.
