Learn new ways of seeing and modifying materials—new or found—to create dimensional textural in your art that is a feast for the eyes!
From fabric to paper. Crackle Paste to Tar Gel. Waxy "faux encaustic" effects and plaster-like effects. Found objects and more.
Discover each week a new texture that you can add to your artwork to make it unique and full of visual interest. For use with acrylic / water-based paintings.
In this class, students will learn how to:
- build dimension using found objects
- incorporate fabric and handmade papers
- tame and simplify texture
- discover what texture mediums can do for your art
- create depth and interest with mark making
- create a rich, textural piece of art
Students will walk away with 1-2 finished paintings with interesting and unique textures.
Supplies:
- various acrylic paints and brushes
- 1-2 medium canvases or wood panels
- 18x24 inch watercolor paper pad
- soft gel medium, gloss
- paste (lightweight or regular)
- color shaper
- palette knife
- quality paper towels or cotton rags
