ABOUT THE ARTIST: Yoon Hee Kim creates timeless ceramics rooted in Korean heritage, inspired by nature, and crafted for mindful living. She has led workshops worldwide—both online and in person—and has collaborated with renowned ceramic masters across the globe.
Founded in New York, her studio Yoon Lab Ceramics produces limited-edition pieces that celebrate organic textures and the quiet beauty of nature. Each work is carefully handcrafted, blending traditional Korean artistry with modern design. Yoon studied Visual Design at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and has devoted herself to ceramics since 2017.
MATERIALS PROVIDED: All tools, including a towel for use during class. Box and shredded paper for safely transporting your finished pieces home.
WORKSHOP SYLLABUS:
DAY 1 – FEBRUARY 7, 2026: Large Clay Centering & Cylinders
• Learn the benefits of “throwing off the hump”
• Practice centering large amounts of clay with stability
and ease
• Explore coning up and down to build clay control
• Open the clay and pull even, straight-walled cylinders
• Goal: Build confidence with larger clay and create
strong, consistent vertical forms
DAY 2 – FEBRUARY 8, 2026: Shaping & Repetition
• Learn how to measure for uniformity (using a tombo
stick or calipers)
• Throw a set of matching forms
• Focus on rhythm, proportion, and refining shapes
Morning refreshments and daily lunch included.
SKILLS GAINED: By the end of the workshop, you’ll have the technical skills to throw multiple matching forms with ease and significantly improve your efficiency.
