About this Event
This hands-on class is perfect for beginners eager to learn the art of wheel throwing. In this fun and relaxed session, you’ll explore the traditional method of shaping clay on a potter’s wheel—spinning the clay and using your hands and tools to form beautiful, functional pieces.
What You’ll Learn:
- Centering the clay on the wheel
- Pulling up walls to form bowls, mugs, and vessels
- Trimming and finishing techniques for polished results
- An overview of different types of clay and their uses
- Introduction to glazes and how to choose the right one for your projects
Our experienced instructor, Evan, will guide you step-by-step as you develop the foundational skills needed to create your own unique pottery. You’ll have access to all the tools and equipment in our fully equipped studio, including pottery wheels, kilns, and hand tools.
What to Expect:
This class is ideal for anyone interested in creating functional items like mugs and bowls, or decorative pieces like vases and sculptures. Please note that we won’t be firing or glazing the pieces made during this session, but you’ll walk away with the skills to keep creating!
What to Bring:
- All materials are included, but feel free to bring your own apron or coveralls if you like.
- Wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting messy—working with clay is half the fun!
Come join us and start your pottery journey in a welcoming, creative environment. We can’t wait to see what you make!
