Through Trauma to Hope: Gain Clinical Tools to Advance Asset Building and Financial Capability Practice with Clients
Parents have less energy to think about their kids’ distant tomorrow if they are worried about making it through today. Trauma compounds this dynamic. Hermila Melero, LCSW, will help us recognize trauma in clients and apply this understanding to encourage parents to utilize programs like CalKIDS to advance their children’s higher educational attainment.
ABC, CalKIDS Institute at UCLA, and East Los Angeles Community Corporation warmly invite you to an event where financial coaches, social work practitioners, and experts in financial capability and asset building can learn to navigate trauma to help clients take steps towards a brighter future.
Aside from skill building and community engagement, we will take the opportunity to celebrate ABC’s tenth anniversary. ABC uses service learning to financially empower themselves and others. Over the last decade, ABC has enabled Cal State LA’s School of Social Work to deliver the most robust programming of financial social work on the west coast.
Our celebration includes delicious food in wonderful company, and this time we will sing over cake while accompanied by mariachi! Seats are limited, RSVP today!
