Through the Shop Window - Make a Wish at Hot Chocolaterie

This Christmas, step into the heart of Buxton for a series of special events celebrating local music, drama, crafts and more. From festive performances to hands-on activities, each event invites you to take part, watch or simply listen, everyone is welcome.
Most events run from 4–6pm, are completely free, and suitable for all ages. Along the way, you’ll find opportunities to purchase refreshments and gifts, but there’s absolutely no obligation to do so.
Each participating building or shop has a unique story to share. As you explore, discover Buxton’s heritage through windows that come alive with creativity and community spirit.
Please note: some venues may be small or have steps. We’re working with partners to make events as accessible as possible, and volunteers will be on hand to assist.

Nestled on Hall Bank, a steep and historic street lined with elegant Victorian townhouses and notable Georgian buildings, Hot Chocolaterie is a charming artisan chocolate shop offering handmade truffles, pralines, ganache, fudge nuggets, and inventive treats like chocolate “cake-sicles.” The shop occupies the former One Small Step children’s shoe store and has been thoughtfully transformed into a warm, inviting space for chocolate lovers.
The business is owned and run by Leanne Brocklehurst, a lifelong Buxton resident and experienced chocolatier. Leanne honed her craft at Charlotte’s Chocolates and Misco’s in Leek before launching her own venture in May 2023. With a background in English and Creative Art and Design from the University of Derby, she brings both flair and precision to her creations. Leanne is passionate about experimenting with bold flavours, such as sea buckthorn jelly, and is committed to offering something distinctive. She also works as a counsellor, reflecting her deep ties to the local community.
As part of the Through the Shop Window initiative, Hot Chocolaterie is hosting a magical family drop-in activity led by the Babbling Vagabonds, Buxton’s beloved theatre-makers.
