Buxton Opera House presents a short adaptation of Charles' Dickens A Christmas Carol. On a cold Christmas Eve, miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by spirits who guide him through his past, present, and future. Through their haunting lessons, he discovers the true meaning of compassion, redemption, and Christmas spirit. Our small ensemble of actors use puppetry, song and movement to tell this classic festive tale.
The Buxton Pudding Emporium is owned by Alan Hibbert and Dominic McCall, who are the founders of The Buxton Pudding Company. The Emporium opened in the Autumn of 2017 as a showcase for the Original Buxton Pudding along with their other delicious cakes, puddings & sweet treats.
Built in 1849, with the permission of the Duke of Devonshire, the building was originally built as a boarding house so that tourists could come and indulge in the spa water. The top floor of the building used to be staff accommodation, as when you came to visit such a place you would bring your staff. Alan and Dom know this as then they were recently rewiring the top floor, they found the old servant bell pulls. Next door used to be the stables and the carriage coach house.
In the 1960s-1980s the building became a butchers and then a green grocers. More recently the building housed a solicitors and building society agency named Prickett's. After almost a decade of nobody occupying the building, Alan and Dom bought the building which now houses the Emporium shop and cafe and offices upstairs.
The Emporium would like to offer complimentary teas, coffees, and mince pies to all audience members attending its shows.
Showings at 6pm and 7pm
