About this Event
Join us as we kick off Climate week in conversation about the future of our city through the eyes of the water and its shore.
Back by popular demand, our Ferry Talk this year begins aboard the South Street Seaport Museum's historic Tall Ship Wavertree. There Grist's Climate Fiction manager Tory Stephens will host a panel conversation on transforming ecologies, creative infrastructure and environmental realities of our changing climate.
With panelists Pete Malinowski, co-founder/director of Billion Oyster Project, Lisa Bloodgood , director of Horticulture and Stewardship with North Brooklyn Parks Alliance & Jada Tulloch, Youth Educator for NYC H20.
Participants will then take an NYC Ferry up the East River where we'll we'll have an alternative Q&A in small groups to discuss topics from the panel, climate pitfalls and new adaptations. The tour will end in LIC, with an optional afterparty at Fifth Hammer Brewery, a 5 minute walk away.

More about the Partners
Holes in the Wall Collective
Holes in the Wall Collective connects people to place and possibility. We love creating experiences that give the public fresh ways to engage with difficult subjects and our changing climate. Whether by supporting people and organizations with new audiences and resources or bolstering community and civic engagement through our city-wide climate programming, we support an ecosystem of change and transformation to step further into a sustainable, viable, and thriving future for all of New York City.
The South Street Seaport Museum
The South Street Seaport Museum, located in the heart of the historic seaport district in New York City, preserves and interprets the rich sea-connected history of New York, a city and its people. Founded in 1967, the Museum houses an extensive collection of works of art and artifacts, a maritime reference library, exhibition galleries and education spaces, working 19th century print shops, and an active fleet of historic vessels that all work to tell the story of “Where New York Begins.”
Grist
Grist is a nonprofit, independent media organization dedicated to reporting on climate change. Since 1999, we have used the power of journalism to document the often unequal impacts of climate change — as well as to show the promise of equitable climate solutions. With 40 journalists spread across nearly 20 U.S. states, Grist is the largest and most experienced climate-focused newsroom in the country.
NYC Ferry
NYC Ferry operated by City Experiences provides an affordable way to travel between waterfront communities throughout New York City. The six routes span over 60 nautical miles of waterways and connect New Yorkers and visitors to the city’s waterfront communities. Through our integrated health & safety, quality and environmental management system, we strive to serve you better and leave the planet a better place than when we began.
