Between 2010 and 2019, residents of the Throsby villages along the creek including Carrington, Islington, Maryville, Tighes Hill and Wickham gathered under the fig trees in Islington Park to share food and conversation.The annual event became a favourite and cultivated a connected community, supporting Islington Park to flourish into the welcoming, green recreation space it is today.
Climate Ready Newcastle has partnered with the organisers of the Throsby Villages Alliance to revive the TBB this year and centre the conversation on what it means to live on Throsby Creek in 2025, and how we can respond to and prepare for local climate change impacts together.
