Thriving Net Zero Communities in the West Midlands - Systems Mapping Workshop

Join us for an interactive workshop at The Priory Rooms, 40 Bull Street to explore how we can create thriving net zero communities in the West Midlands. In this hands-on session we will be introducing collaborative mapping techniques, and exploring the different factors that shape the health and sustainability of our communities. Lunch provided!

Through this collaborative session, we aim to:

  • Identify key players and their interconnectedness: Understand how individuals, organizations, and policies across different sectors influence the local environment, health, and community well-being.
  • Unify diverse perspectives: Explore different stakeholder viewpoints and how policies interact across disciplines, fostering a holistic understanding.
  • Anticipate potential challenges: Uncover potential risks and unexpected consequences of different approaches.
  • Craft impactful solutions: Identify co-benefits and levers as policy targets

Lunch and coffee breaks will be provided. No experience needed!

If you're involved in local government / policy development or implementation, and you have an interest in sustainability, please come along.

WM NET ZERO

Led by the University of Birmingham, and working jointly with 14 regional and national partners, WM-Net Zero will produce a toolkit that can estimate the health and economic impacts of net zero policies, using air pollution as a determinant of health.

Policymakers and other regional stakeholders will be able to see the likely health impacts of different net-zero policy options versus ‘business as usual’ scenarios. This will help them to design better net zero policies to maximize their co-benefits on air quality and health, and minimize their potential unintended consequences.
