Mayor Mary Sheffield's Rise Higher Detroit Thriving Neighborhoods Community Conversation

Located at Eastside Community Network (ECN) @ 4401 Conner St, Detroit, MI

Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 5:30PM to 8:30PM

Overview

Join Mayor Mary Sheffield for an in-person community meeting to share your voice and help shape the future of Detroit!

Rise Higher Detroit is Mayor Sheffield's citywide effort to listen to residents and shape City decisions around what people are actually experiencing in their daily lives. Through Community Conversations across Detroit, residents come together in guided, small-group discussions focused on the issues that most affect how people work, live, and get ahead. Each Community Conversation will focus on one of five issue areas.

The Thriving Neighborhoods Community Conversation will bring residents together to:

  • Hear directly from Mayor Sheffield about her vision to revitalize neighborhoods, expand affordable housing, eliminate blight, beautify corridors, and strengthen the cultural assets and sense of place that make Detroit neighborhoods unique
  • Share your lived experiences about your neighborhood—what's working, what needs improvement, how blight and code enforcement affect you, what makes your community feel vibrant, and how housing affordability impacts your family
  • Participate in a guided conversation about neighborhood redevelopment, housing development and planning, corridor activation, placemaking, arts and culture initiatives, and supporting neighborhood commercial anchors
  • Connect with neighbors and City staff and help shape how City government responds to what Detroiters are experiencing across the City

Why This Matters

Mayor Sheffield is committed to building an administration that listens to and is shaped by everyday Detroiters. Your perspective and experience matter. These community conversations ensure that residents are at the center of decisions affecting our neighborhoods and our city.

About Rise Higher Detroit
Rise Higher Detroit, the official transition initiative of Mayor-elect Mary Sheffield, aims to be the boldest and most inclusive engagement effort in Detroit’s history. The transition will help develop an official Transition Action Plan—a roadmap that reflects the voices, values, and aspirations of Detroiters. Together, we will help Mayor-Elect Sheffield realize her vision of an administration built on the voices and priorities of the people.

No public or campaign dollars are being used to fund the activities of the Rise Higher Detroit transition committee. The Mayor-elect and Detroit’s philanthropic community have collaborated to create a fund, established at the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan and supported by a variety of foundations and other civic institutions, to fund transition efforts, including community engagement and talent acquisition.
