A Masterclass by Dr Sophie Dahlenburg
About this Event
Embarking on the journey of commencing a PhD can evoke daunting apprehensions and trepidations. The uncharted waters of academia may evoke a sense of anxiety and unease, especially given the multitude of uncertainties that await aspiring scholars. However, it is crucial to discern that this realm of academic pursuit also offers unparalleled intellectual growth and discovery. This masterclass focuses on navigating the PhD journey with practical insights, emphasising the significance of strong mentorship, work-life balance, overcoming challenges, and the motivation gained from scholarly publishing.
Dr Sophie Dahlenburg completed her PhD in 2022 and has key insights and valuable experience of what it takes to complete a doctorate program. At this masterclass, she will share some of her first-hand experiences, tips, and general advice for someone about to embark on their own PhD journey.
She will cover some of the important aspects that apply to any PhD program: managing life outside PhD, fostering a strong relationship with one’s supervisory team, addressing writer’s block (yes, it’s a real thing), and the benefits of publishing and sharing one’s research as they progress through the program.
