Happy New Year! (is it too late in January to still use that greeting? Happy Remainder of the Year, then.)This Saturday will be the first time I have mounted my bike in weeks; I hope I can still remember how to ride. The rain that is currently filling my gutters (and the thunder that is rattling my dogs) will all be past tense by Saturday – it should be fine and warm. Let’s do that easy ride starting at Three Kings and loops through quiet streets, parks and (optional) climbs to the top of Mt Eden and One Tree Hill.
Saturday 17 January, 2026, 9:30 for a 10:100a.m. ride. Meet at Mug’n’Bowl Café , 8a Carr Road, Three Kings, Auckland 1042

The following Saturday (24th), I shall be out of town for a funeral, so I suggest we ride on Sunday 25th up at Dairy Flat, and the next day (Monday, Auckland Anniversary Day) we will ride around some North Shore paths that will give us a good view of the Regatta in the Harbour.
Let me know where you want to ride! I would hate to get too boring and repetitive, so please suggest new rides. I will be having to travel away from Auckland quite a few weekends this year, so do have a whisper in my ear if you’re willing to lead a ride. We might even line up some ride-leader training (e.g. how to perform mobile exorcisms, methods for evading police, Morris dancing skills, first aid for Ebola… that sort of thing).
Better go check your battery is charged.
All the best.
John
