Megan Matters
About Megan, she is a full time trimmer and rehabilitation farrier. Her passion is creating balance for the horse it it's feet for both postural and bio-mechanical comfort.
The workshop is held over 3 days and you have the option of participating in either the first day only , 2 days if you just want to trim, or 3 days including a glue on shoe application.
Day 1: Interactive theory focusing comprehensively into the anatomy of the lower limb of the horse with a strong emphasis on understanding how to recognise what is not "normal" in the hoof, the legs and the posture.
Day 2: Primarily hands on! Firstly with mapping and trimming cadaver feet so you can focus on learning the skill without the pressure of a live horse 🙂 You will work together in groups mapping and trimming your own horses with an emphasis on "Do not harm". We provide detailed "how to" hand out notes and are close at hand to supervise, advise and guide you through this process.
Day 3 : There will be a glue shoe demonstration on a live horse and on a cadaver leg in the morning.
In the afternoon you will get to glue a shoe of your choice on your cadaver from the day before.
This workshop has limited placings so please secure your booking early.
Option 1: 2 full days of interactive participation (you may bring your own horse) Just trimming $500
Option 2: 2 full days of auditing ( you will watch, but no hands on) $400
Option 3: 1 day (Saturday) Theory only $250
Option 4: 3 full days of interactive participation $750
Option 5: 3 full days of auditing ( you will watch, but no hands on) $550
