Blue is the first of Krzysztof Kieślowski's acclaimed trilogy of films inspired by the three colours of the French flag and loosely based on the principles that each represent: liberty, equality, fraternity.Julie loses both her husband and young daughter in a car accident. She tries to cut herself off from her friends and her former life but is drawn back to the living when she discovers that she cannot escape human connections. Three Colours: Blue is considered to be one of Kieslowski's most visually arresting, emotionally resonant work - and features an outstanding performance from Juliette Binoche as Julie.
We will be screening White and Red, the remaining two works in the trilogy, later in 2025.
