Thomas Bethman is an opera-trained tenor who loves Broadway tunes. He's known around Sand Lake as Pontoon Tom when he's not on a stage in the States or performing on a cruise ship. I've heard him sing casually but I can't wait to hear him with the wonderful acoustics in the church.
Anne Lewis is another musical treasure we are fortunate to have now in Rideau Lakes. Anne will share her singer-songwriter music that, at times, leans towards jazz from her perch at the grand piano. She has released 4 albums of her original music: Trees (2021); Expressions (2018); I Want to Know (1995 – Anne Wagner); and Eagle’s Landing (1993 – Anne Wagner). In addition, she has recorded many jazz classics live in concert and in the studio.
Campbell Woods is a true folk singer and one of my personal favourites! He's toured, played on many stages in Canada, and I'm excited to welcome him to Elgin to share his music. His songs are on the playlist at Tipped. He sings soft songs about hard luck. Writing songs rooted in the tradition of Townes Van Zandt, his style is tried and true, but he’s no dinosaur. You’ve heard it all before, but not like this.
This concert is one in a series that I'm presenting with the support of volunteers from the church (they're doing the intermission treats!). Proceeds from the show will go towards the upkeep of the beautiful building. Mark your calendars and bring your friends!
