In ancient Greek mythology human life was imagined as a single thread and the keepers of this thread and weavers of destiny were personified as three sisters called The Fates. Discover the sisters' fascinating myth and the ancient art of weaving in this creative holiday workshop!
The session will begin with an introduction to The Fates and a chance to see them in the Hellenic Museum collections followed by an introduction to the ancient crafts of spinning and weaving. Then it's time to get creative!
Budding young artisans will learn how to weave a tapestry on a miniature loom with the option to follow a simple pattern or design their own. Come away with a finished weaving that can be hung on the wall used as a coaster or bookmark or sewn into a bracelet.
This workshop is ideal for young explorers aged 6–13. Tickets include all materials and Museum general admission after the workshop.
