At the turning of the year, we gather in community to release the old and weave our wishes for what’s to come. Join us for a one-day workshop…..
Through shamanic sound journeys, guided meditation, and connection with nature, we’ll open space to listen deeply, to ourselves, to one another, and to the quiet rhythm of the earth.
Together, we’ll share in a circle of reflection and intention, grounding our hopes and dreams for the new year. Then, in a mindful creative ritual, you’ll either hand-stitch or weave a deeply personal piece of fabric. This could be a small bag to safely hold your precious items, a circular handwoven mat for a special space in your home, a scarf, a mini altar cloth, prayer flags, or maybe you have an item of clothing you wish to imbue with a new lease of life for the year ahead. Whatever you feel called to create, you will be held and guided as you weave in your intentions.
We will mindfully craft using cloth from our ancestors, items from nature, and symbols of meaning. You’re invited to bring personal objects that hold significance for you, fabrics, charms, or found treasures, that we can find ways to weave into your creation.
All materials will be provided. But please do bring anything you would like to use, this could be memory fabrics, old favourite children’s clothes, pieces of special fabric, buttons, beads or once treasured but now broken pieces of jewellery.
This practice draws inspiration from cultures around the world where handmade fabric items hold luck, blessings, and protection:
In Japan, omamori amulets are sewn and carried for love and safety.
In India, blessed scarves and tabeez pouches hold prayers and divine energy.
In Tibet and Nepal, khata scarves and prayer flags carry blessings on the wind.
In West Africa, gri-gri cloth charms are stitched for protection and fortune.
Among Indigenous peoples of the Americas, woven pouches hold sacred herbs, stones, and feathers for spiritual guidance.
Across these traditions, the common thread is one of mindful creation — where fabric, sound, colour, and intention intertwine to honour renewal and possibility.
This event is in partnership with Jules from Where Inspiration Blooms, a beautiful, creative space dedicated to mindfulness, nature, and artistic expression. Jules brings many years of experience in creative making and a deep love for sustainable textile materials that hold stories, memories, and love.
Throughout the day, we will provide tea, coffee, cake, and fresh fruit, sharing warmth and reflection in community. Please bring your own lunch. We will have access to a microwave and a kettle.
