About this Event

JOURNEY into the heart of Shiloh with Tanya Davis. Shiloh is a small vibrant African American community in Asheville, North Carolina. Threads is a multifaceted compilation capturing the essence of Shiloh through history, heartfelt stories, poems, prose, and essays. It offers memories, candid opinions, questions, and random thoughts that paint a picture of life in the Shiloh community. Threads provides an intimate glimpse into the lives and legacies of those who have shaped Tanya and the Shiloh community. Threads is more than a collection; it is a celebration of resilience, culture, and the enduring spirit of Shiloh.

Tanya is a former resident of Shiloh who grew up on White Avenue. She is the daughter of Eleanor and Edward Jackson, and sister to Wendy Jackson. She is also the wife of Steven Davis, mother of seven, and grandmother to eleven grandchildren. She has authored several books and has also served as a publisher for numerous other books and contributed to various online organizations. Tanya holds a bachelor's dregree from DePaul University and a master's degree in writing, with an emphasis on Narrative Medicine, from Lenoir-Rhyne University. She believes in the power of story and the importance of being active listeners when people share their stories. She emphasizes that our stories help us grow in empathy and love for each other.
