Saltmarsh Ledge is a sunny 3-bedroom home in a meadow on the edge of the woods, overlooking gorgeous saltmarshes and Long Island Sound. It feels like a secluded hideaway but is just minutes away from Stonington Village, one of Connecticut’s most charming towns.

Each bedroom has beautiful views and the patio is a wonderful place to watch birds and the changing colors of the day. Sparkling clean and tastefully decorated with updated furniture and antique pieces, Elihu House offers cozy nooks, spacious outdoor areas, and everything you need for a wonderful writing retreat (including a laundry room!).

Full disclosure, there is a train that passes a short distance away, beyond the meadow and the marsh, and you will hear the whistles. Some people love this. Some might find it bothersome.

Transportation to and from the train station or airport is not provided.

This retreat is designed for writers seeking a quiet, dedicated space to focus on their work in a beautiful New England town. While we do not offer structured activities or entertainment, we prioritize communal meals and time for sharing work and conversation, providing opportunities to connect with fellow writers in a supportive environment.

The surrounding area is rich with wonderful places to explore, from scenic coastal spots to charming local attractions, and we encourage you to take advantage of all it has to offer. If you’d like to explore, we recommend renting a car.
