ABOUT 'DEAR WENDY'
------------------------------------
A film written by Lars von Trier and directed by Thomas Vinterberg about the young loner Dick (Jamie Bell) who lives in a poor mining town. When he happens upon a small handgun one day, he finds himself drawn to it, despite his pacifistic views. Together with a partner he soon convinces the young outcasts in the town to join him in a secret club. A club based on the principles of pacifism and guns.

DANISH FILMS – ENGLISH SUBTITLES
Twice a month we screen a Danish classic or a highly acclaimed new production with English subtitles. Tickets are 80 DKK (50 DKK for members of the Cinematheque) and can be booked and purchased online. Please note that booked tickets must be picked up no later than 45 minutes prior to the screening.
In Danish on a Sunday in June and July we screen 'Dear Wendy' (2005), 'The Word' (1955), 'The Commune' (2016) and 'Ninna' (2019).
Danish also means Danish pastry! Before each screening, we have a special offer on a coffee with Danish pastry (or a piece of cake) at Restaurant SULT at an extra cost of only 40 DKK.

DEAR WENDY
Instruktør: Thomas Vinterberg
Instruktør Thomas Vinterberg spillefilms-debuterede i 1996 med ’De største helte’ og blev verdenskendt med den første dogmefilm ’Festen’ (1998). Hans internationale debut kom i 2002 med ’It’s all about Love’, og med ’Dear Wendy’ er vi igen rykket udenlands. I en lille by i USA har en gruppe unge drenge dannet en hemmelig våbenklub. De er alle dybt fascineret af deres håndvåben, men har en regel om aldrig at bruge dem. De erfarer, at regler er til for at blive brudt, da de indvier et nyt medlem i deres hemmelige foretagende. Lars Von Trier har skrevet manuskript, og på rollelisten ses blandt andre Bill Pullman og Jamie Bell, sidstnævnte fik sit gennembrud i ’Billy Elliot’ (2000).
