Take a journey with Trappist Monk Thomas Merton toward spiritual transformation and a more contemplative, peace-filled life. As a guide we will use Seeing that Paradise Begins Now, booklet eight in the series Bridges to Contemplative Living with Thomas Merton from the Merton Institute for Contemplative Living.
You can join us even if you haven't read the earlier books. Each book stands alone.
Thomas Merton believed that the gates of paradise are all around us. Seeing That Paradise Begins Now helps participants discover where they are and how to open them.
The Bridges to Contemplative Living with Thomas Merton series invites users to personal spiritual transformation for the sake of a more just and peaceful world. Each eight-session booklet offers an introduction to Merton and contemplative living, prayers, readings from Merton and other spiritual writers, and questions for dialogue.

Thomas Merton was a monk, poet and social activist. He entered the Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani in Kentucky in December 1941 at age 26 and lived there until his death in 1968.
“We are living in a world that is absolutely transparent, and God is shining through it all the time. … When we abandon ourselves to God and forget ourselves, we see it ... this is what we are for.”
— Thomas Merton
