Join Shamus Award-winning writer and one-time Bay Area resident Tom Andes for a reading from his debut detective novel, Wait There Till You Hear from Me

A brief reading from the novel will be followed by an audience Q&A and signing.

About the book: Charles Prentiss chickened out on becoming a private eye after nearly getting shot serving papers to a car thief. Now he’s working a desk job in New Orleans but doesn’t feel like he measures up to his fiancée’s upper crust family. A couple months before the wedding,Gwendolyn’s college-aged brother Marshall disappears.

When Gwendolyn’s uncle offers Charles fifteen grand to find the kid, he knows it’s a bad idea, but it’s his chance to prove himself to his wealthy future in-laws. But Gwendolyn is harboring a secret that might explode their relationship. Before long, Charles uncovers a conspiracy that links Marshall to a shady real estate developer, and he has to protect the kid from the same gun-toting tough who’s stalking Charles and Gwendolyn.

“For all its readability as a crime novel, Wait There Till You Hear from Me is as well a fine portrait of a man finding the shape of his life in the shape of the great city around him – indefinable, ever-changing, ancient New Orleans.” - James Sallis, author of Drive and the Lew Griffin novels

“Tom Andes’ New Orleans is an uneasy mix of old money and creeping gentrification, high society and low lifes. Wait There Till You Hear From Me is a gritty modern noir as sharp and satisfying as a Sazerac.” - Stewart O’Nan, author of West of Sunset and City of Secrets
