Thistle Blues Dancing: Solo Workshop

Thistle Blues Dancing presents this Saturday evening workshop on solo blues with Ewan.
This workshop will focus on two topics, Sand Dancing and jazz blues vocab! Both taking influence from the great singers, dancers and performers like James Brown, Sammy Davis Jr, Josephine Baker and Cab Calloway!
Originally taking it's name from dancers covering a floor with sand, Sand Dancing encompasses a wide variety of cool slidy footwork across a range of Black American dance styles like blues and jazz. We will cover many classic steps and their common technique here (slidy, smooth soled shoes or socks will be needed so that you can comfortably do the steps).
And then for the jazz blues vocab we look at how we can put cool angular and asymmetric shapes into our bodies with moves like Snake Hips, the Mooche and the Harlem Slow Drag!
Some experience of blues dancing is preferred but not essential.
If the idea of a solo dance workshop is off putting to you, then don't worry; this session will not be focused on performance or choreography. And all content will be just as relevant to partnered blues dancing.
Bring water and wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes. Dancing in smooth soled shoes or socks is recommend so that you can easily spin and slide without risking damage to your knees.
