About this Event

Join Will Hutton for a Newcastle launch of his new book: “This time no mistakes: how to remake Britain” on Friday 26th April, from 1-2:30pm at the Catalyst Theatre, Newcastle University.

Will Hutton's book makes the case that the right and left have both got it wrong over the course of the last century. Hutton argues that the “we society” should be pursued in order to reform capitalism so that people are treated fairly to avoid inequality, monopoly and exploitation. The arguments revisit some of the themes from “The state we’re in” but clearly the world has changed significantly in the past 20 years, with a range of new challenges to consider and new narratives shaping our political discourse. With the upcoming North East Mayoral Election and a General Election also expected this year, the book provides a challenge to incoming political leaders on a variety of critical issues that they must surely grapple with. Event brought to you by Insight North East and the Institute for Social Science.
