About this Event
As our last event in National Youth Violence Prevention Week, we’re raising awareness around youth violence and gun violence. On the same evening, you can see a screening of This is New Orleans and receive a gun lock for firearm safety. This powerful, youth-made documentary takes an honest look at the root causes of violence in New Orleans and the urgent need for more resources to support young people. Created by local youth, this film sheds light on the challenges they face, the systemic factors contributing to violence, and their vision for a safer, more supportive community.
Following the screening, a panel of young filmmakers will discuss the documentary’s key themes, share personal insights, and explore actionable solutions. Attendees will also be able to take home free gun locks and receive training on firearm safety. Don’t miss this important conversation about the future of our city and how we can all play a role in creating change.
