‘THIRDSDAY NITE’ is a monthly jazz show at the Van Dyck Music Club held on the Third Thursday of every month - Show #005 features a quartete lead by our friend Matt Steckler on Saxophone & Flute. Matt, aka Matty Stecks, performs and composes in several musical settings internationally. From 2017-20, he served on the faculty in Jazz & Contemporary Popular Music at the renowned Brandon University School of Music in Canada; and has taught at NYU, RPI, and other higher ed and K-12 schools. Primarily a saxophonist/woodwind specialist, he also performs on vocals, keyboards, percussion and electronic media, bringing a dynamic, holistic approach to the live musical experience.
Matt & his trio have played downstairs on a few occasions, and he just performed his new album "Old Friends Beckoned / New Sounds Reckoned" at Ceffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, NY. He'll be joined by a trio of the Capital Region's top players on March 20th: John Esposito on the piano, Tarik Shah on bass, and Nick Anderson on drums.We're thrilled to welcome this outsanding quartet to Stockade as part of Thirdsday Nite!
