A captivating force in the world of jazz, blues, and blue-eyed soul, Melissa Ellis possesses a voice that defies conventional jazz which has rightfully earned her the title of The Southern Spitfire. Through her unmatched vocal style and raw power, Melissa seamlessly navigates between the warm, opulent tones reminiscent of classic jazz sirens and the soulful delivery and distinctive growl of the blues queens. With her charming southern accent, she has crafted an unforgettable signature blend of jazz and blues that's uniquely her own.
A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Melissa Ellis is an award-winning vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist known for her dynamic voice and magnetic stage presence. Like many great singers, her musical roots trace back to church, and by her mid-teens, she was performing professionally in both regional and touring theater productions. Melissa studied voice formally at Roane State Community College and Tennessee Technological University, where she deepened her classical and jazz training.
Melissa is a passionate advocate for the arts and founded HerSTORY, a project that celebrates women in music and champions
gender equality in the music industry. Over the years, she has graced numerous stages across the Southeast— including the legendary Ryman Auditorium. Melissa is currently in the
studio working on three upcoming projects, each showcasing a different side of her artistic range.
