It’s almost become a tradition...one Saturday night in the depths of January doldrums, Third Coast Bluegrass (TCB) performs before a packed house at Seman Violins. The band looks forward to returning to the “Friendly Confines” on Oakton for a great night of music and connecting with Chicago friends. For those not familiar with this powerful ensemble, it roots go back to being founders of some of the most influential Bluegrass groups in the Upper Midwest – Special Consensus, ‘Grass, Food & Lodging’, The Morgan Brothers, Jerry Wicentowski Band. Steeped in tradition but forward-looking in approach and repertoire, TCB features distinctive vocals, driven by the powerful lead singing of Jerry Wicentowski, one of the most admired voices in Bluegrass, and tight harmonies. Instrumentally the band features Don Stiernberg, one of the great swing, jazz, and bluegrass mandolinists anywhere, Peter Knupfer, a multi-state fiddle champion and sought-after clinician and soloist, Marc Edelstein, one of the most in-demand acoustic bass players in Chicago, and Ken Finkel, a highly distinctive banjo player and the band’s on-stage quarterback.Join us for what is sure to be a memorable night of music in the wonderfully intimate performance space at Seman Violins.
