Learn how to make paper without the use of a traditional vat by using a deckle box. A deckle box is a combination of a vat and a mould and deckle, and it holds enough water and pulp to make sheets of paper. Deckle boxes provide easier control over sheet thickness as well as some creative techniques that aren’t possible through traditional sheet forming. In this two-day workshop, participants will learn how to form medium-sized and large-scale sheets of paper in a deckle box as well as how to make painterly artworks through the exploration of various pulps and pigments.
