About this Event
Come and watch two of our impact documentaries that were on Australian television last year and hear the inspiring stories behind the making of these films.
"Little Bang's New Eye" was filmed on location in Vietnam, produced on a zero budget and completely unplanned and unscripted. It tells the story of the work of Adelaide's 2020 Australian of the Year, Dr James Muecke and his charity Sight For All through the heartwarming story of 3 year old Hmong girl Bang as she journey's to Hanoi from her village in the mountains for lifesaving treatment for childhood eye cancer. Narrated by Kerry Armstrong. Run time: 15 mins.
"A Place to Call Home" is the heartfelt story of Brother Al Archer’s life journey to make a difference to those living with complext mental ill health. After singing and performing on stage in London to signing up with a record label whose clients included Prince and Michael Jackson, Al’s life was transformed by a powerful experience in a Los Angeles church. Giving up a wild life of parties, drinking and performing, Al returned to Australia to work in a 500 bed homeless men’s shelter in Kings Cross and later from one small house in Queens Park, Perth, managed to create a community of 15 houses providing long term accommodation for over 60 adults who live with mental illness.
